Why Didn't My Reading Come True? (It Might Not Be for the Reason You Think)

It's one of the hardest emails a medium can receive.

"You gave me a reading six months ago... and none of it happened."

I recently received a message very much like this. It wasn't angry or accusatory. It was simply someone trying to understand.

Had I got it wrong?

Had they done something wrong?

Was there a delay?

As uncomfortable as those questions can be, I think they're important ones to ask.

Because if we're going to work with Spirit honestly, we also have to be willing to examine the times when things don't seem to unfold as expected.

Could the reader simply have been wrong?

Let's start with the most obvious possibility.

Yes.

Mediums are human.

Psychics are human.

Card readers are human.

We're interpreting energy through our own minds, experiences and understanding.

Sometimes we misunderstand what we're receiving.

Sometimes we interpret a symbol too literally.

Sometimes we simply get it wrong.

I don't think admitting that weakens mediumship.

I actually think it strengthens it.

Because pretending every reading is perfect doesn't help anyone.

A reading isn't the same as ordering a pizza

One of the biggest misunderstandings about psychic readings is the idea that they're a prediction of an unavoidable future.

As though Spirit are handing you an itinerary.

"Here's what will happen in May."

"Then this will happen in June."

Life rarely works like that.

Your future isn't something that's delivered to your front door.

It's something you're actively creating every day.

Spirit may show you possibilities.

They may show you opportunities.

They may show you where your current path appears to be leading.

But you still have choices.

Inspired action matters

I often hear people say they're trying to manifest something.

A new job.

A relationship.

A house move.

More abundance.

But then I ask what they've actually done to move towards it.

And sometimes the answer is...

Nothing.

Manifestation isn't about placing an order with the Universe and waiting patiently for delivery.

It's a collaboration.

You ask.

Spirit guide.

You take action.

New opportunities appear.

You respond.

That's how growth happens.

If a reading encourages you to take a course, have a conversation, apply for the job or finally believe in yourself, those actions matter.

Ignoring them may well change the outcome.

Divine timing isn't an excuse...

...but it is real.

This is probably the hardest part for all of us.

We like timelines.

We want certainty.

We want to know exactly when things will happen.

Spirit...

Not so much.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned is to hold the vision but loosen the timeline.

Easier said than done, I know.

I've had cards appear for months telling me abundance is coming.

Opportunities are growing.

Everything is moving in the right direction.

If I'm honest, there have been moments where I've looked at my bank balance and thought, "Really?"

And yet, when I look back over the bigger picture, I can also see how much has changed.

Perhaps the timeline wasn't wrong.

Perhaps mine was.

Sometimes we forget what we've already received

This is something Spirit gently challenged me on recently.

I found an old list of things I'd hoped to achieve.

Many of them had happened.

Some almost exactly as I'd imagined.

Others in completely unexpected ways.

The funny thing?

I'd already moved on.

I was so focused on what I wanted next that I'd forgotten to celebrate everything that had already arrived.

I wonder how often we all do that.

Maybe the reading answered a different question

This is something I've been reflecting on a lot.

Sometimes people ask for a general reading.

But underneath that request is a much deeper need.

They're not really asking:

"What will happen over the next six months?"

They're asking:

"Am I going to be okay?"

"Should I trust myself?"

"Is this relationship worth fighting for?"

"Can I let go now?"

Spirit don't always answer the question we ask.

Sometimes they answer the one we actually need answered.

That's one of the reasons I now spend much more time understanding what someone truly hopes to gain from a reading before I begin.

What makes a good reading?

This question has fascinated me for years.

Is a good reading one that tells you exactly what you want to hear?

Or is it one that's faithful to what Spirit are communicating?

Sometimes those are the same thing.

Sometimes they aren't.

As a medium, my responsibility isn't to create a comforting story.

It's to communicate as honestly as I can.

That doesn't mean I'll always be right.

But it does mean I'll always do my best to stay true to what I'm receiving.

Should you ignore a reading that doesn't come true?

Not necessarily.

Instead of asking,

"Was the reading wrong?"

Try asking a few different questions.

Was I shown a possibility rather than a certainty?

Did I take the inspired action that was suggested?

Has the timing changed?

Have I already received part of what I asked for without recognising it?

Was Spirit answering a deeper question than the one I consciously asked?

Those questions often reveal far more than a simple yes or no.

The most honest answer

People sometimes ask me if there is such a thing as a perfect reading.

I don't think there is.

Not because Spirit make mistakes.

But because we're human beings trying to interpret something far bigger than ourselves.

That's an enormous responsibility.

It's also an enormous privilege.

So if you've had a reading that doesn't seem to have come true...

Please don't automatically assume you've failed.

Don't automatically assume the reader was a fraud.

Don't automatically assume Spirit got it wrong.

Pause.

Reflect.

Stay curious.

Sometimes the greatest value of a reading isn't that it predicts your future perfectly.

It's that it changes the way you walk towards it.
