Why I Don't Believe in Demons Anymore

There was a time when I absolutely believed in demons.

I believed in attachments.

I believed people could carry dark entities.

I believed houses could become spiritually dangerous.

More than that...

I worked with people who believed those things too.

I carried out what I believed were entity clearings.

I prayed.

I called on Archangel Michael.

I asked difficult energies to leave.

And here's the part that often surprises people.

It worked.

So why don't I believe in demons anymore?

Because over time, I realised something that completely changed how I understand spirituality.

What changed my mind?

It wasn't one dramatic experience.

It was hundreds of small ones.

The more I worked with people, the more I noticed a pattern.

People's experiences almost always reflected what they already believed.

If someone believed they were vulnerable to spiritual attack, they often experienced the world that way.

If they believed they needed constant protection, they felt safer when they carried out protection rituals.

If they believed a particular prayer, crystal or clearing technique would help...

It usually did.

That made me ask a difficult question.

Was I removing demons?

Or was I helping people change the way they experienced their own energy?

I still believe energy is real

This is where people sometimes misunderstand me.

When I say I don't believe in demons, they assume I don't believe in energy.

That's not true at all.

I absolutely believe people affect one another.

We've all walked into a room after an argument and felt the atmosphere.

We've all spent time with someone whose negativity left us feeling exhausted.

We've all experienced homes that feel calm, welcoming and peaceful, and others that simply don't.

Energy matters.

Our thoughts matter.

Our emotions matter.

The way we treat each other matters.

I just don't believe we need demons to explain those experiences.

What about psychic attack?

I've spoken before about periods in my own life where I felt deeply affected by another person's behaviour.

Their words.

Their actions.

Their intention.

It had a genuine impact on me.

That experience was real.

But I don't think it happened because a demon was involved.

I think it happened because human beings are capable of hurting one another.

Sometimes intentionally.

Sometimes without even realising it.

That doesn't make the experience any less real.

It simply gives it a different explanation.

Why belief is so powerful

One of the biggest lessons mediumship has taught me is that our beliefs shape our experiences far more than we often realise.

If you believe you're not good enough, you'll struggle to trust your mediumship.

If you believe Spirit are difficult to connect with, the process often feels difficult.

If you believe you're vulnerable to dark forces...

Your mind will naturally look for evidence that confirms that belief.

That isn't weakness.

It's part of being human.

Our brains are constantly trying to make sense of the world through the stories we already hold.

But didn't your clearings work?

Yes.

I genuinely believe they did.

The difference is that I now understand why differently.

Back then, I believed I was removing entities.

Now, I think I was helping people feel safe.

I was helping them shift their energy.

Helping them release fear.

Helping them believe their home was peaceful again.

Helping them regain a sense of control.

Those things are incredibly powerful.

Whether you call that psychology, intention, spirituality or energy doesn't really matter to me.

The result was the same.

People felt better.

What about Archangel Michael?

People often ask whether I still work with Archangel Michael.

The answer is yes.

Not because I believe he's fighting demons on my behalf.

But because connecting with his energy reminds me of courage.

Strength.

Protection.

Trust.

If asking Archangel Michael to stand beside you helps you feel safe enough to open your heart to Spirit, I think that's a beautiful thing.

The important part isn't whether we all use the same practice.

It's that we find practices that genuinely support us.

I don't want people to be afraid

One of the reasons I speak openly about this is because I've seen how much fear the idea of demons can create.

I've spoken to people who were terrified to meditate.

Terrified to sit in the power.

Terrified to open up to Spirit.

Not because of anything they'd experienced.

Because they'd been told they might attract something dark.

That breaks my heart.

I don't want spirituality to become something people fear.

I want it to become something that helps people feel more peaceful, more connected and more empowered.

It's okay if you believe differently

You might have had experiences that have led you to a different conclusion.

I completely respect that.

I'm not asking you to abandon your beliefs because I've changed mine.

I'm simply sharing where my own journey has led.

For me, the Spirit world has become far less frightening and far more loving since I let go of the belief in demons.

That doesn't mean everyone has to reach the same destination.

My spirituality became lighter

Looking back, I don't feel embarrassed that I used to believe differently.

It was part of my journey.

It helped me understand people.

It taught me compassion.

And eventually, it led me somewhere else.

Today, I don't spend my time worrying about spiritual attack.

I don't work from fear.

I don't believe I'm surrounded by dark forces waiting for an opportunity.

Instead, I choose to focus on love.

On connection.

On healing.

On the extraordinary continuation of consciousness after death.

That shift has made my work lighter.

It has made my life calmer.

And perhaps most importantly...

It has made my relationship with Spirit one built on trust rather than fear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you believe demons exist?

Personally, no. I used to believe in demons, attachments and entity possession, but my understanding has changed over the years. Today, I believe many experiences people describe as demonic are better understood through the lens of energy, fear, trauma, belief and human behaviour rather than malevolent spiritual beings.

Why did you change your mind about demons?

It wasn't because of one dramatic experience. It happened gradually through years of working with people. I noticed that people's spiritual experiences often reflected their beliefs. The more I explored mediumship, the more I found myself moving away from fear-based explanations and towards a deeper trust in the nature of Spirit.

Does that mean you don't believe in negative energy?

Not at all. I absolutely believe energy affects us. We can be influenced by the atmosphere in a room, the emotions of the people around us and difficult life experiences. I simply don't believe we need the concept of demons to explain those experiences.

What about psychic attack?

I've experienced situations where another person's behaviour had a profound emotional and energetic impact on me. I believe that was real. However, I see it as the effect of human energy and intention rather than the work of demonic forces. People can hurt one another without anything supernatural being involved.

If demons don't exist, why do spiritual clearings sometimes work?

In my experience, they often work because intention is incredibly powerful. Helping someone feel safe, shift the energy of their home, release fear and believe they're protected can create a genuine change in how they experience themselves and their environment. I believe that's a real and meaningful process, even though I now explain it differently.

Do you still work with Archangel Michael?

Yes. I still find great comfort in connecting with Archangel Michael, particularly when I want to feel grounded, courageous and supported. My relationship with him is no longer based on fighting evil but on connecting with qualities such as strength, protection and trust.

Do I need spiritual protection before working with Spirit?

I don't believe everyone does. Personally, I don't feel the need to protect myself before working with Spirit because I don't believe the Spirit world is something to fear. However, if using a protection practice helps you feel calm, confident and able to open to Spirit, I don't see anything wrong with that. Feeling safe is what's important.

What if I've had an experience I can't explain?

I would never dismiss your experience simply because I understand it differently. Many people have profound spiritual experiences that feel frightening or confusing. My encouragement would be to stay curious, avoid jumping to fear-based conclusions and remember that there are often many possible explanations for what we've experienced.

Is it okay if I still believe in demons?

Of course. My intention isn't to tell anyone what they should believe. This article simply shares how my own understanding has evolved over time. Spiritual development is deeply personal, and we're all entitled to explore, question and arrive at our own conclusions with honesty and integrity.
