When you hear the word “fairies,” you might picture glitter, wings, and mischievous little beings straight out of a children’s storybook. But hold onto your enchanted hats because the reality of fairies (or the Fae, if you want to sound fancy) is far more magical, complex, and… well, a little sassier than you might expect.

Fairies aren’t just characters from bedtime tales; they’re Earth’s hidden guardians, deeply connected to nature, and yes, they have a wicked sense of humour. Here’s how to unlock the magic of fairies without needing a sparkly wand (though if you have one, no judgment).

Inspired by my enlightening conversation with Trish McKinnley on Episode Season 1 Episode 20 of the Mediumship Matters Podcast, where we dove deep into the fascinating world of fairies, their roles, and how to connect with them.

1. Who Are the Fairies, Really?

Forget the dainty Tinkerbell stereotype. Fairies are diverse, ancient beings connected to the natural world. Some are playful and light, others are serious and protective. Think of them as the universe’s quality control team, keeping an eye on nature while rolling their eyes at humanity’s questionable decisions.

2. Signs Fairies Might Be Around (Hint: It’s Not Just Missing Keys)

  • Mischief: Items disappearing and reappearing in odd places? Classic fairy antics. They love a good laugh.

  • Glimmers of Light: Quick flashes or sparkles at the edge of your vision.

  • Nature’s Whisper: A sudden breeze, rustling leaves with no wind, or that feeling of being watched (in a non-creepy way).

  • Animal Behaviour: Pets acting strangely, as if they’re seeing something you can’t.

3. How to Connect with the Fae (Without Offending Them)

  • Respect Nature: Fairies are nature’s ultimate protectors. Littering? Big no-no. Caring for plants and animals? Gold star.

  • Offerings: A simple bowl of milk, honey, or shiny objects left outside (but biodegradable, please—they’re eco-conscious).

  • Mind Your Manners: Always be polite. Say thank you, and maybe don’t demand they perform party tricks.

4. Fairy Communication 101

Fairies don’t usually pop up for a chat like a cosmic call centre. Their messages are subtle: signs in nature, feelings in your gut, or even the occasional dream cameo. Pay attention to synchronicities—those “that can’t be a coincidence… can it?” moments.

5. The Do’s and Don’ts of Fairy Encounters

  • Do: Approach with an open heart, respect, and a sense of humour.

  • Don’t: Demand favours, take anything from nature without permission, or forget to thank them.

6. The Magic They Bring

Fairies remind us that the world is brimming with unseen magic. They encourage us to reconnect with wonder, to slow down, and to notice the extraordinary hidden in the ordinary.

Final Thoughts (Because Fairies Love a Dramatic Exit)

Believing in fairies isn’t about abandoning logic; it’s about expanding your sense of what’s possible. Whether you feel their presence in a garden breeze, a mischievous lost sock, or a sudden burst of creativity, the Fae are out there, keeping an eye on things… and probably laughing at us just a little bit.
