The Power of Sitting in the Power

Mediumship is a journey. A wild, unpredictable, exciting, and sometimes downright frustrating journey. One day, you feel completely connected, like spirit is right there whispering in your ear. The next, it’s like you’re shouting into an empty void, wondering if you’ve just imagined everything. Sound familiar?

If there’s one practice that can help stabilise your connection, deepen your evidence, and strengthen your confidence, it’s sitting in the power.

But before you roll your eyes and say, “I know, I know – meditation!” let’s talk about what sitting in the power really is and why so many mediums struggle with it.

What Is Sitting in the Power?

Sitting in the power isn’t about visualising white light, meeting your guides, or following a step-by-step relaxation. It’s about expansion. Expanding your energy, blending with the spirit world, and learning to sustain that connection without expectation.

You’re not sitting to “get” anything. Not a message, not a sign, not a vision of your great-great-grandad smoking a pipe. You’re sitting to be in the energy of spirit. To know them. To allow yourself to shift into a space where you naturally receive.

Why Do So Many Mediums Struggle with It?

Because we’re human! And humans love a checklist. We like results. We want to know that if we do something, we’ll get something back. Sitting in the power requires us to let go of that need for immediate validation.

The biggest mistake I see developing mediums make is turning their power on and off like a switch. They get into “mediumship mode” when they need to work, then disconnect as soon as they’re done. But that’s not how deep, evidential, consistent mediumship works. Spirit isn’t a slot machine.

How Sitting in the Power Improves Your Mediumship

  1. It Strengthens Your BlendingThe more time you spend in spirit’s energy, the more naturally you blend. You won’t have to “try” to connect – it will already be part of your awareness.

  2. It Helps You Recognise Their PresenceA lot of developing mediums struggle because they expect spirit to “arrive” in a certain way. Sitting in the power teaches you the subtlety of their presence, so you stop second-guessing yourself.

  3. It Expands Your EnergyStrong evidence comes from a strong connection. The bigger your power, the more depth and detail you’ll get in your readings.

  4. It Develops Your TrustSitting in the power forces you to be in the unknown. No expectations, no demands – just allowing. The more you do this, the more you trust your connection when you actually need it.

How to Get Started

If you’re new to sitting in the power (or have been avoiding it – I see you!), start small. Five minutes a day. No pressure. No agenda. Just sitting and expanding.

  • Close your eyes and focus on your breath.

  • Feel your energy inside you – then let it grow.

  • Imagine it filling the room, stretching out beyond your walls.

  • Let yourself rest in this space. No expectations. No goals. Just being.

That’s it. No angels need to appear. No booming voices required. Just you and spirit, merging into one.

Do this consistently, and watch how your mediumship shifts. The evidence deepens. The doubts fade. The messages flow.

Mediumship isn’t just about talking to spirit – it’s about being with them. And that starts with you, in the silence, sitting in the power.
