Mediumship Matters Podcast — Season 1, Episode 14

Blue signs with white text saying "Here," "There," and "Everywhere" on a dark background. Green and yellow blurred lights on the side.

One of the most common ways people first notice the spirit world is through signs — feathers, numbers, music, smells, or moments that feel too precise to ignore.

In this episode of Mediumship Matters, I explore signs from spirit, how and why they show up, and how to recognise them without becoming anxious, obsessive, or doubtful. We also move into how mediumship actually works, why expectations can block connection, and why development is a gradual, unfolding process rather than a sudden leap.

This episode is especially helpful if you’ve been noticing signs, questioning whether you’re imagining things, or feeling unsure how to interpret your experiences.

Why the Spirit World Uses Signs

Spirit communication is subtle by design.

In this episode, I explain that spirit doesn’t communicate loudly or constantly because that would overwhelm us. Instead, signs are offered as gentle reassurance — a way of saying “we’re here” without disrupting everyday life.

Signs aren’t meant to prove anything. They’re meant to comfort, encourage, and remind you that connection exists beyond what you can see.

Feathers, Numbers, Music, and Smells

I talk through some of the most commonly reported signs from spirit, including:

  • feathers

  • angel numbers

  • music appearing repeatedly

  • familiar smells connected to loved ones

Importantly, I also explain that not every feather or number is a sign — and that discernment matters. The difference is often energetic rather than logical. When something is a sign, there’s usually a feeling of recognition rather than a need to convince yourself.

Meaning comes from personal resonance, not checklists.

Signs Are Personal, Not Universal

One of the key points in this episode is that signs are deeply personal.

What means something profound to one person may mean nothing to another — and that’s exactly how spirit communication works. The spirit world uses your memories, your associations, and your emotional language.

This is why comparing experiences or copying someone else’s signs often leads to confusion.

When We Get It Wrong — And Why That’s Okay

I also speak openly about moments where physical explanations are more likely than spiritual ones.

Not every sensation, sound, or experience comes from spirit — and acknowledging that doesn’t weaken your connection. In fact, it strengthens it. Honest mediumship allows for human error, health factors, and imagination alongside genuine connection.

Spirit doesn’t judge mistakes. It values openness.

How Mediumship Actually Works

This episode moves into a grounded explanation of how mediumship works energetically.

I describe mediumship as a partnership between:

  • the medium

  • the spirit world

  • the sitter

Information doesn’t arrive as full conversations. It comes as impressions, feelings, images, or knowing — shaped by what the medium is currently able to receive and interpret.

This is why different mediums work differently, and why no two readings are ever the same.

Why Expectations Block Connection

A central teaching in this episode is about expectation.

At the beginning of development, everything feels magical because there are no expectations. Over time, pressure creeps in — wanting to be accurate every time, wanting proof, wanting consistency.

Expectation is often the thief of joy in mediumship.

Letting go of pressure allows connection to flow more freely for both the medium and the spirit world.

Development Is Ongoing — Even for Working Mediums

I also share honestly that development never stops.

Good mediums continue to learn, train, and refine their connection throughout their lives. Mediumship isn’t about reaching a finished state — it’s about expanding what you’re able to receive over time.

Growth happens in layers, not leaps.
