Mediumship Matters Podcast — Season 1, Episode 14

Yellow street signs for Tyers St, Percy St, and Tourist Drive illuminated against a dark night sky, creating a stark contrast.

One of the earliest ways people begin to sense the spirit world is through signs — feathers, numbers, music, smells, or moments that feel quietly impossible to ignore.

In this episode of Mediumship Matters, I explore signs from spirit in a grounded, honest way. We talk about what signs are, why they’re personal, how discernment develops over time, and how mediumship actually works beyond the myths and expectations people often carry.

This episode is especially helpful if you’ve noticed signs but questioned whether you’re imagining them, or if you’ve felt unsure how to interpret what you’re experiencing.

Why Spirit Uses Signs

Spirit communication is subtle by nature.

In this episode, I explain that spirit doesn’t overwhelm us with constant presence. Instead, signs act as gentle reassurance — moments of connection that remind us we’re not alone without disrupting everyday life.

Signs aren’t there to convince or prove. They’re there to comfort, encourage, and gently strengthen trust.

Feathers, Numbers, Music, and Smells

I walk through some of the most common signs people notice, including:

  • feathers

  • repeating numbers

  • meaningful songs appearing repeatedly

  • familiar smells linked to loved ones

Importantly, I also talk about discernment. Not every feather or number is a sign — and that’s okay. When a sign is from spirit, there’s usually a felt recognition rather than a need to persuade yourself.

Meaning comes from resonance, not checklists.

Why Signs Are Personal

One of the most important points in this episode is that signs are unique to the individual.

Spirit works with your memories, associations, and emotional language. That’s why copying someone else’s signs or searching for universal meanings often leads to confusion.

A sign doesn’t need to make sense to anyone else for it to be meaningful to you.

Getting It Wrong Doesn’t Mean You’re Failing

I also speak openly about times when physical explanations make more sense than spiritual ones — including my own experiences.

Not everything is spirit, and acknowledging that doesn’t weaken connection. It actually strengthens discernment. Mediumship allows room for health, imagination, and human error alongside genuine communication.

Spirit isn’t offended by honesty.

How Mediumship Actually Works

This episode moves into a grounded explanation of how mediumship works energetically.

Mediumship is a partnership between:

  • the medium

  • the spirit world

  • the sitter

Information arrives as impressions, feelings, images, or knowing — not as conversations in the way people often imagine. What comes through depends on what the medium is able to receive and interpret at that stage of development.

This is why different mediums work differently.

Expectations and the “Thief of Joy”

A key teaching in this episode is around expectation.

At the beginning of development, everything feels exciting and surprising. Over time, expectations creep in — wanting accuracy every time, wanting proof, wanting consistency.

Expectation can quietly block connection and remove joy. Letting go of pressure allows mediumship to flow more naturally.

Development Never Really Ends

I also share openly that mediumship is never “finished”.

Good mediums continue to learn, question, and develop throughout their lives. Growth happens in layers, not leaps, and curiosity matters far more than perfection.
