This is Season 1, Episode 1 of the Mediumship Matters podcast, where I share how my journey into mediumship began and what that experience taught me about spiritual development.

Winding road through lush green hills at sunset. Sunlight casts warm rays, creating a serene and picturesque landscape.

Many people ask how mediumship begins — whether it’s something you’re born knowing, or something that slowly unfolds over time.

In this first episode of Mediumship Matters, I share my own journey into mediumship, not as a dramatic awakening, but as a gradual remembering. From early sensitivity and vivid awareness as a child, to a single moment of undeniable evidence that changed everything, this episode explores how mediumship can unfold quietly, unexpectedly, and in deeply human ways.

This episode is especially relevant if you’ve ever wondered whether something similar might be happening for you.

Mediumship Often Begins Before We Have Language for It

Like many people, I didn’t grow up thinking of myself as “spiritual.”

As a child, I was sensitive, intuitive, and deeply aware of emotion and right and wrong. I had vivid dreams, strong feelings, and an inner sense that guided how I moved through the world. But none of that was labelled as mediumship at the time — it was simply part of who I was.

As I grew older, those parts of me were slowly quietened. Like many people, I learned how to fit in, how to be practical, and how to ignore what didn’t seem to belong in everyday life.

Looking back, this is something I now see very clearly in others. Mediumship rarely arrives as something new. More often, it returns to us once we’re ready.

The Moment Spirit Became Undeniable

Everything changed for me in my late twenties during an ordinary conversation at work.

A colleague unexpectedly brought through my grandfather in spirit, offering specific, recognisable evidence — including a detail about something I had been researching privately at home. The information was so precise that it couldn’t be dismissed or explained away.

That moment didn’t feel dramatic. It felt grounding.

It wasn’t belief that shifted — it was knowing.

From that point on, I could no longer pretend that spirit communication was theoretical or symbolic. It was real, personal, and unmistakable.

Development Isn’t About Learning — It’s About Unlearning

Following that experience, I joined my first spiritual development circle.

What I discovered there surprised me. Mediumship wasn’t about acquiring new abilities. It was about unlearning conditioning, fear, and disbelief. It was about allowing something natural to surface again.

I also witnessed trance mediumship for the first time — an experience that challenged everything I thought I understood about awareness, blending, and spirit communication. It was confronting, fascinating, and deeply humbling.

At that stage, I stepped away. Not because nothing was happening, but because I wasn’t ready yet.

That pause turned out to be just as important as the development itself.

Being Gently Nudged Into Evidential Mediumship

For a long time, my work focused on spirit guides, healing, and intuitive awareness. I believed that was where I was meant to stay.

Mediumship with loved ones in spirit felt like asking for too much.

Over time, spirit gently challenged that belief. What I came to understand was that development isn’t about choosing what feels comfortable — it’s about responding honestly to what’s being asked of us.

Evidential mediumship didn’t replace my connection to guides. It deepened my understanding of communication, responsibility, and trust.

Mediumship Is a Lifelong Relationship

One of the most important things I’ve learned is that mediumship is not something you “complete.”

It evolves. It changes. It humbles you.

Every time you think you understand it fully, spirit finds a new way to expand your awareness. That ongoing relationship — rather than certainty — is what keeps the work grounded and honest.
