Let’s be honest—when you think about career transitions, you probably picture someone swapping spreadsheets for sunsets, not boardrooms for spirit guides. But that’s exactly what happened to Louise Walton, whose journey from the corporate corridors of Deutsche Bank to becoming a spiritual medium is nothing short of extraordinary. Spoiler alert: it didn’t involve a dramatic movie montage (although it should have).

The Corporate Hustle: All That Glitters Isn’t Gold

Picture it: young, successful, climbing the corporate ladder with all the shiny perks—big salary, prestigious job title, maybe even an office with a plant that’s somehow still alive. Louise had it all, but beneath the surface, something felt off. Despite ticking all the boxes society says should make you happy, she was left wondering, “Is this it?” (Spoiler: it wasn’t.)

Cue the Spiritual Wake-Up Call… in Egypt of All Places

Louise’s spiritual awakening didn’t happen during a meditation retreat or after reading a profound self-help book. Nope. It kicked off on a holiday to Egypt with her now-husband. Imagine stepping off the plane and suddenly being able to hear people’s thoughts. (Talk about baggage claim anxiety!) On the coach to the hotel, she found herself picking up on strangers’ emotions and even personal details. Now, most of us would chalk that up to jet lag, but not Louise. She leaned into the experience—with equal parts curiosity and a touch of “what the heck is happening to me?”

From Doubt to ‘Oh, This Is a Thing’

Back home, things didn’t exactly settle down. Louise began doing readings for friends, initially as a bit of a party trick. But when she started sharing information she couldn’t possibly know—like names, personal histories, and emotions—it became clear this wasn’t just a coincidence. Word spread faster than a meme on social media, and before she knew it, Louise had a full client list.

Navigating the Wobbly Bits

Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Transitioning from a corporate job to mediumship comes with a hefty dose of imposter syndrome. Louise worried about what people would think. Would her old colleagues raise an eyebrow? Would her family host an intervention featuring PowerPoint slides titled “Why Louise Has Lost the Plot”? But she persevered, driven by a deeper knowing that this path, however unconventional, was her true calling.

Lessons from Spirit (and Corporate Life)

Interestingly, Louise found that her corporate skills weren’t wasted. The same communication, empathy, and problem-solving she used in board meetings helped her connect with spirit and deliver messages with clarity and compassion. The key difference? Now her “clients” sometimes come from the other side.

The Takeaway

Louise’s journey is a powerful reminder that spiritual awakenings don’t always arrive in the ways we expect. Sometimes, they’re wrapped in the mundane, hidden in the hustle of everyday life

until one day, bam! You’re reading someone’s energy instead of quarterly reports.

So, if you’re feeling the nudge that there’s more to life than your current 9-to-5, maybe it’s time to listen. (And if you suddenly hear voices that aren’t yours, don’t panic… unless they’re critiquing your coffee-making skills. Then, by all means, be offended.)

Because sometimes, the greatest promotion isn’t climbing the corporate ladder—it’s stepping off it entirely.
